JUMPING ROPE RHYMES ON TORQUE / MARCHING CHANTS

After preparing the jump rope leaflet, I got to thinking about jump rope rhymes.  I picked some out of www.buyjumpropes.net, and I adapted them.  The first and last ones are rhymes that I made up.  Here they are.  Maybe you can think of some, too!

SUGGESTION:  Rhymes like this have other uses than with jumproping.  They could also be used the way soldiers do when running as a group in their training, singing or chanting in unison.  I think one of them is the leader calling out each line, which the others repeat.

TORQUE TWIST TURN
T is for turning, turning around           
O is for over, over the ground            
R is for round and round it goes         
Q is for quickly round you go              
U is for under, under the rope            
E is for everyone spelling it out:           
T-O-R-Q-U-E                                
Torque and twist and turn for me.
 

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WENT TO FRANCE

Benjamin Franklin went to France
To teach the ladies how to dance.
First the heel, and then the toe,
Twist and torque and out you go. 

CHARLIE CHAPLIN WENT TO FRANCE

Charlie Chaplin went to France,
To teach the ladies the hula dance.
First on the heels,
Then on the toes,
Turn and torque and around you go.
Salute to the Captain,
Bow to the Queen,
Touch the bottom of the submarine.

 

THE TEDDY BEAR TORQUE

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around,  
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn and torque,                              
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, out you go!

15 CENTS

I asked my parents for 15 cents,
To see the platypus jump the fence.
She jumped so high she touched the sky,
And didn't come back till the 4th of July.

Used her energy to jump like that,     

Could gravity stop her?  I guess not.
